as director

My first directing credit was Garret Jon Groenveld's The Hummingbirds, presented during my exchange semester at the Iceland Academy of Art.

Thanks to the W!ld Rice Directing Residency, I made my professional debut in 2021 with the Singapore premiere of Mike Bartlett’s award-winning play, Bull.

Maiden Monologues was my first directorial work for Zoom, in celebration of International Women’s Day 2022, and shortly after, I revived one of Singapore's most censored plays, Ovidia Yu’s Hitting (On) Women, at Projector X.

When embarking on any directing project, the first thing I consider is how the story and its characters are a reflection of society today, who is this piece truly for, and how can this version spark or contribute to discourse around its themes and issues.

I delight in scripts that have chaos bubbling under the surface. I don't always have the answers, which is why I love the collaborative medium of theatre. I believe my job as a director is to create an environment within the rehearsal room and world of the play that will invigorate actors and designers. If they don't care about the story they're telling, why should audiences?
